Features

Cell-Guide Friendly Design
Unlike typical pallet-wide containers that can’t be stacked in ship cell guides, Sea Cells feature offset corrugations that fit perfectly within international container slots. This design allows you to utilise every available space on board, ensuring efficient shipping without compromise.

Maximum Pallet Efficiency
Royal Wolf Sea Cells hold two CHEP pallets side by side on the floor, fitting up to ten pallets in a 20ft unit and significantly more in a 40ft unit. This means fewer containers needed for the same volume of goods, saving time and freight costs.

Heavy-Duty Construction
Built from high-strength marine-grade steel, Sea Cells handle rigorous shipping demands. The 20ft units support payloads up to 31,050kg, while 40ft units accommodate up to 29,840kg, all while offering large internal cubic capacities to protect your cargo.

Versatile & Easy Handling
These containers include standard corner castings, allowing them to be lifted and moved by all common container-handling equipment. Whether you're using forklifts, cranes or side loaders, Sea Cells integrate seamlessly into your existing logistics operations.

Sea Cells FAQs

What is a Sea Cell container and why is it ideal for palletised freight?

A Sea Cell container is a specialised pallet wide container developed by Royal Wolf to enhance freight efficiency on international cell-guide vessels. Unlike standard containers, Sea Cells allow two CHEP pallets to sit side by side, maximising internal capacity without increasing external width. This design is perfect for businesses seeking to optimise load volumes and reduce freight costs across long-distance transport.

Are Sea Cell containers compatible with intermodal shipping systems?

Yes, Sea Cell containers are compatible with intermodal shipping systems, making them a reliable solution for multi-mode freight movement. Designed with offset corrugations, these pallet wide containers integrate seamlessly into cell-guide container ships and transition smoothly to rail or road. Their stackable build and standard corner castings allow easy handling by forklifts, cranes and sideloaders.

What makes pallet wide containers more efficient than standard shipping containers?

Pallet wide containers are engineered to fit two Australian CHEP pallets across the container floor, unlike standard ISO containers which often waste valuable internal space. Royal Wolf’s Sea Cell containers take this further by incorporating a cell-guide friendly design, allowing them to be used on international vessels. This improved fit boosts payload efficiency, reduces the number of containers needed, and lowers overall freight costs.

How do Sea Cell containers support container shipping in Australia and New Zealand?

Sea Cell containers are purpose-built to support high-volume freight transport across the Australian and New Zealand supply chain. Their pallet wide design is tailored to fit Australian and New Zealand CHEP pallets, while their compatibility with global shipping standards makes them ideal for container shipping in Australia, New Zealand and export markets. They’re especially suited to industries like FMCG, agriculture and manufacturing where load efficiency and cargo protection are critical.

What sizes and configurations are available for Sea Cell containers?

Royal Wolf’s Sea Cell containers are available in both 20ft and 40ft lengths, with an external width of 2,500mm to support side-by-side pallet loading. Each intermodal shipping container features offset side corrugations to fit snugly within cell-guides on international vessels, a key requirement for compliant container shipping. Built from marine-grade steel with heavy-duty flooring and standard handling features, these containers offer a superior freight solution for businesses across Australia looking to scale efficiently using pallet wide container systems.
